This conceptual redesign of Minneapolis’ Brackett Park prioritizes local users to update a neighborhood park while prioritizing well-loved amenities, new needs, and sustainability.

The redesign reuses existing materials from the the park to create new path and structure. For example the backstops from the removed baseball fields are reshaped and combined with climbing plants to bring intimacy, shade, and greenery to gathering spaces. The aggregate from those same baseball fields is reused as an informal path material that can accommodate all types of mobility without introducing new concrete.

With a new path system diving the space, the design balances open play space and canopy space based on user needs while also reorienting connections in and out of the park.
