My design for Population 485 is centered around the feeling of sitting down with your friends and family to recall stories of loss, love, and celebration. The wood columns are reminiscent of a greek theater and create a space for gathering around to tell stories. The minimal design leaves room for the narration to take us to a wide variety of locations as the cast of small town volunteer fire fighters act out vignettes of their years in service. In the background two curved ground rows evoke the rolling hills of Northern Wisconsin to set the location and give a sense of familiarity to the audience.
